The Finance and Staff Accountant is a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of intercompany accounting principles, collaborates closely with our external accounting firm. He/She has a natural passion for math and intricate knowledge of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, taxes, and other financial transactions within an organization. The Finance and Staff Accountant plays an important support role, clarifying the financial outlook of our company and its clients with precise, proactive measures.

Job Responsibilities

  • Execute mid-level general-ledger account reconciliations, accurate reporting, and data verification, enabling senior staff to analyze options and make financial decisions aligned with company objectives
  • Monitor policies and procedures for assigned departments, and identify and suggest improvements for accounting reports and procedures
  • Study existing and recent legislation to ensure compliance with national and local financial requirements
  • Continue professional education by participating in webinars, workshops, and networking events
  • Own month-end close fluctuation analytics, reconciliations, consolidations, and posting entries for different entities to ensure accurate recording and elimination of transactions between affiliated companies
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or variances in intercompany accounts promptly, collaborating with cross-functional teams when necessary
  • Prepare journal entries for intercompany transactions, adjustments, and other related accounting entries
  • Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, specifically focusing on intercompany reconciliations and eliminations
  • Ensure that all intercompany balances are properly eliminating in consolidation
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over intercompany transactions, minimizing the risk of errors and fraud
  • Develop audit SOPs
  • Prepare data for quarterly and annual filings
  • Review/perform complex reconciliations and analyze variances
  • Ad hoc projects such as accounting policy standardization and implementation
  • Support Finance and Tax Departments while auditing and centralizing third party reporting

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other relevant degree program is required
  • 4+ years of relevant accounting experience, Big 4 experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of intercompany eliminations and topside adjusting journal entries
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively
  • Must possess excellent critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and superior attention to detail
  • Strong accounting knowledge and understanding of GAAP, General Ledger, Reconciliation, Inventory Management, AR, AP, and Payroll management
  • CPA or progress towards obtaining a license is ideal
  • Prior experience with Sage Intact or other ERPs preferred along with Excel proficiency including Pivot Tables, VLookUp’s, Sumifs, etc.
  • Comfort with data visualization is ideal (e.g., Narrator, Fivetran, ClickUp)
  • Analytical mindset and the ability to work with large sets of data
  • Ability to work under pressure, often in a deadline-driven environment, and to multi-task
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing

Compensation: Salary + Performance-Based Bonus, Comprehensive Benefits Package. Final compensation will be determined based on experience and skills and may vary from the range listed above.
