We’re Thalo Labs, a NYC-based company on a mission to transform the built environment into a powerful tool for fighting climate change. Where others see buildings as part of the problem, we see an incredible opportunity to leverage existing infrastructure to not only accelerate drawdown, but to transform the built environment from one of the biggest carbon emitters to a carbon sink. Our technology combines proprietary sensing, software, and capture systems to accurately measure, significantly reduce, and directly capture a building’s onsite greenhouse gasses in real time. Our team has built self-driving cars at Waymo, worked on satellite imagery at Google, designed systems for John Deere, developed space missions for NASA, engineered bikes for Peloton, led manufacturing design for Boom Supersonic jets, and more. We are united by our shared goal of making products that help us decarbonize today and accelerate drawdown globally. We are seeking a motivated and responsible candidate who will plan and execute the installation and service of our equipment throughout the five boroughs and beyond. This role is more than just installing equipment, we’re looking for someone to own the process from start-to-finish and will continuously improve how we do our work. If you love working hands-on with technical equipment, are comfortable being in building mechanical spaces, have a high sense of ownership, and are an all-around problem solver then you’ll love this. If you're eager to grow a pioneering climate tech startup in Brooklyn, let's chat! What We Offer

  • An immediate opportunity to make an impact fighting climate change with a mission-driven team
  • An in-person, collaborative culture. In our historic Brooklyn Navy Yard office, we not only have a stocked pantry but we also dedicate time to connect with each other during weekly happy hours, Falafel Fridays, and quarterly off-sites
  • Thalo Labs believes everyone should be compensated fairly. At our ground-floor stage, our compensation structure places a strong emphasis on the value of high equity, with an hourly rate of $40-55, depending on experience

What You'll Do

  • Install Thalo’s monitoring equipment on building heating, cooling, and water heating systems
  • Perform site audits in advance of the installation in order to identify how best to execute the installation
  • Generate an installation plan including ordering materials, scheduling the work, and coordinating on-site logistics
  • Be the face of Thalo by working with customers and building personnel
  • Service and repair equipment when issues are identified after the installation. Work with our engineering team to improve and refine our products
  • Work with our customer customer success team to improve and refine the operations processes, training, and documentation
  • Assist with the assembly of our equipment in our Brooklyn Navy Yard lab space

What You Have

  • Minimum 5 years experience providing field technical support and installation
  • Self-motivated with the ability to deliver results independently or indirectly supervised
  • Comfortable working in a variety of field settings (e.g. boiler/mechanical rooms, building rooftops, working on ladders, etc.)
  • Experience working hands on, building, troubleshooting or repairing (including working with basic hand tools)
  • Ability to identify problems in real-time and actively troubleshoot to find solutions
  • Strong communication skills and high level of customer service (e.g. experience coordinating site visits and interfacing directly with customers)
  • Ability and enthusiasm to work in a fast-paced and cross-functional environment
  • Well organized, motivated, and detail-oriented
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Additional Requirements and Considerations

  • Ability to lift and carry medium loads (up to 51 pounds) regularly
  • Ability to work in mechanical rooms, boiler rooms, roof-tops, etc
  • Willingness to travel occasionally during the work week
  • Ability to frequently work in outdoor weather conditions throughout the year
  • This role will have hours that fluctuate from 10-30 a week, depending on business needs
