About The Role
As a Field Service Technician, you'll play a crucial role in providing on-site service and installation support for our advanced bakery equipment. You'll be the face of our company, building and maintaining strong customer relationships while ensuring our equipment operates at peak performance.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee mechanical and electrical installation of bakery equipment
Perform service and maintenance on existing equipment
Train customer personnel in equipment maintenance, sanitation, and operation
Assess spare parts needs and coordinate with our sales team to fulfill customer requirements
Serve as a technical resource, helping customers maximize equipment potential
Identify new equipment opportunities and communicate them to our sales force
Provide phone support for customer troubleshooting
Participate in equipment reviews, final assembly, and checkout at our facilities
Create detailed technical reports, weekly activity reports, and expense reports
Contribute to engineering efforts for technical problem-solving
Promote parts, kits, and services for all installed equipment
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of field service experience in the food, beverage, bakery, or packaging industry
5+ years of electrical and mechanical experience in high-speed bakery or automated process equipment environments
Proficiency with Variable Speed Drives, Sensors, Conveyors, PLCs, OITs, and related technologies
Experience with Rockwell products (SLC-500, Panel View Logix 5000, Panel View Plus) and associated communication software
Programming capabilities and understanding of programmable logic control processes
Strong troubleshooting skills for power transmission parts, pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical circuits
Basic machine shop and fabrication skills for field modifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Travel Requirements
This position involves extensive travel (75%) throughout North America and internationally. Typical trips last 5-6 days, with some installations requiring 2-3 week stays. We strive to accommodate breaks for longer assignments when possible.
Working Conditions
Work environment: Commercial wholesale bakeries (can be loud, warm, and fast-paced)
Typical workdays: 8-12 hours, with occasional 24-hour shifts
Personal tools and diagnostic equipment required
