Field Service Engineer

Client will offer relocation assistance.

Will support Sensing & Monitoring products that are made in Switzerland, mainly power industry products... in any kind of plant--nuclear, power, oil & gas, etc. Switzerland makes vibration sensors. These have different warning lights. Also makes combustion sensors. Engineer will service these systems. Will travel to the sites to evaluate, correct issues. Also, customer may want to purchase products and ask us to build to certain specifications for them (commissioning new systems). Conduct training classes to customers either in office or on customer's site. Engineer would be instructor (5-7 classes a year). Training customers on the product/system, giving customer some hands-on experience. This would enable troubleshooting with engineer over the phone instead of traveling to site. Support Sales as technical expert; may join Sales on presentations to customers.

Job Designation

The Field Services Engineer provides significant technical expertise and engineering solutions to customers and sales. Resolves a variety of technical issues relative to scheduling, installations, troubleshooting and reporting. Works to ensure customer satisfaction through quality of work and service.

Job is based in Londonderry, New Hampshire.

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer site to perform installation, commissioning, trouble-shooting of Meggitt monitoring systems.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction while providing quality service in accordance with contractual agreements and safety standards.
  • Strong deductive reasoning to identify problems or make recommendations for improvements
  • Provide technical assistance (software, application, configuration, etc.) for supporting Meggitt monitoring systems to our customers, subsidiaries, or representative.
  • Promote Meggitt product & services and growth initiatives by providing technical sales support.
  • Attend Trade Shows & User Groups to provide technical support and best practices.
  • Assist with generating proposal in response to customer bid package. Review technical specifications and provide guidance on solutions while adhering to Meggitt standards and business interests.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining the material used for training purposes.
  • Lead training programs on instruments, troubleshooting best practices and monitoring systems/software.
  • Complete reports to professional standards and in timely manner.
  • Provide drawings and supporting material for technical proposals or service report.
  • Arrange travel logistics and submit expense reports while being good steward of Meggitt resources.

Job Specifications

Education: Bachelor degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Electronics or Mechanical) or other related technical field

Years’ Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience; knowledge of rotating machinery operation and control systems preferred. Knowledge of the condition monitoring market a strong asset.

Skills

  • Energy and/or Oil & Gas industry experience preferred
  • Familiarity with tools including but not limited to: proximity probe test kits, shaker tables, thermocouple calibrator, RTD calibrator, handheld DMM, function generator, power supply, oscilloscope and basic hand tools preferred
  • Strong electronics and mechanical troubleshooting skills; hands-on approach; knowledge of machinist tools and electrical trade; ability to read, interpret, and understand mechanical and electrical prints
  • Experience using AutoCAD preferred
  • Ability and willingness to travel (up to 75%) domestically and internationally, on a limited basis, required
  • Valid driver license is required to travel to customer locations
  • During peak seasons may work significant overtime
  • Proficient with computer systems (including MS Office)
  • Demonstrate authority and assurance dealing with people
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, public presentation and training skills to convey concepts to business and technical personnel
  • Effectively communicate technical opinions and recommendations to customers based on supporting data and analysis
  • Self-starter with minimal supervision requirement; able to work independently; ability to prioritize, organize work, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to set and meet aggressive targets and work under stressful working conditions
