Field Scientific Training Director

Join us at AstraZeneca as a Field Scientific Training Director, where you will play a pivotal role in coordinating and leading scientific training for our US Medical Affairs Oncology team (USMAO). As we prepare for multiple launches over the next several years, your expertise will be essential in keeping our colleagues up-to-date with new indications, pipeline data, competitor information, and changes in the clinical landscape and policy.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will transform sophisticated oncology clinical and scientific data into impactful learning experiences. You will coordinate and co-develop learning journeys across our franchise teams – for onboarding, launch readiness, and continuing education/skill refinement. This will be accomplished through close collaboration with our global oncology medical training team (OMT), TA-specific MSL Skills leads, Field Training Specialists, Medical Directors, and others. You will adapt global training plans to fit US needs, own assessment and certification documentation, and provide opportunities for our Medical colleagues to build and demonstrate their scientific foresight.

Essential Skills/Experience:


  • Advanced degree (Ph.D., PharmD., MD, DNP, DO) in a relevant field (e.g. healthcare, biologicals, marketing, communications)
  • 4+ years in pharmaceutical industry, with at least one year in a Medical or R&D role
  • Shown success in developing and delivering scientific/clinical education
  • Subject matter expertise in oncology and the US healthcare landscape
  • Experience in adult education and learning design principles
  • Strong understanding of informative assessment methodologies
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven track record of getting results cross-functionally and leading collaborative efforts within a matrix environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and lead multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Emotional intelligence for the modern learner navigating the volume and complexity of information in oncology, along with the multiplicity of learning platforms and sources.


Desirable Skills/Experience:


  • Advanced degree and equivalent experience in the biomedical field (Ph.D., PharmD., MD, DNP, DO)
  • 4+ years of Medical Affairs experience
  • Experience in clinical oncology
  • Understanding of regulatory considerations related to pharmaceutical scientific exchange
