Wildlife Field Biologist Description
Our client is looking for a Wildlife Field Biologist to join their small but growing team at headquarters near Concord, CA or remotely from the San Joaquin Valley. You will be responsible for conducting field surveys for special-status and endangered species as well as biological monitoring of construction and excavation activities. Qualified candidates must have at least three (3) years of professional identification, data collection, and survey experience of California’s special-status and/or state/federally listed species, native to the Bay area or San Joaquin Valley, and their habitat requirements. Candidates should be able to work independently and as part of a team in dynamic field conditions, often in remote locations and varying weather conditions and possess a commitment to wildlife conservation, environmental stewardship, and ethical research practices. Wildlife Field Biologist Responsibilities
Conduct field surveys to assess wildlife populations, habitat conditions, and ecosystem health
Utilize various survey methods to collect data on target species
Collect and analyze data on wildlife behavior, distribution, and abundance
Assist in the development and implementation of wildlife monitoring programs
Track population trends, assess conservation measures effectiveness, identify emerging threats
Collaborate on habitat restoration and conservation projects
Stay current with wildlife conservation research, best practices, and regulatory requirements
Foster positive relationships with internal team, and external partners and stakeholders
Raise awareness about wildlife conservation and promote community engagement
Wildlife Field Biologist Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology or a closely related field required
3+ years of professional surveying California native wildlife/habitats experience required
3+ years of California native wildlife identification and data collection experience required
Ability to be approved by CDFW as a monitor in San Joaquin Valley or Bay area required
Valid driver's license required
