Your Role
The Farmer Onboarding and Training Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful integration of new farmers into Vital Farms. You will design and implement comprehensive onboarding and training programs to equip farmers with the knowledge and skills necessary for sustainable and efficient agricultural practices that meet our high standards of ethically produced food. Your efforts will contribute to the success of our farming initiatives, promote community engagement, and drive long-term productivity for all Vital Farms stakeholders.
What You’ll Do
Vital Farms, a Certified B Corporation, offers a range of ethically produced foods nationwide. Started on a single farm in Austin, Texas, in 2007, Vital Farms became a national consumer brand that works with over 300 family farms and is the leading U.S. brand of pasture-raised eggs by retail dollar sales. Vital Farms’ products, including shell eggs, butter, hard-boiled eggs, and liquid whole eggs, are sold in over 24,000 stores nationwide. Vital Farms’ ethics are exemplified by its focus on the humane treatment of farm animals and sustainable farming practices. Your Role
The Farmer Onboarding and Training Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful integration of new farmers into Vital Farms. You will design and implement comprehensive onboarding and training programs to equip farmers with the knowledge and skills necessary for sustainable and efficient agricultural practices that meet our high standards of ethically produced food. Your efforts will contribute to the success of our farming initiatives, promote community engagement, and drive long-term productivity for all Vital Farms stakeholders.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and implement onboarding and training programs for new farmers, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices.
- Design curriculum, training materials, and resources to effectively educate farmers on various agricultural techniques, technologies, and best practices aligned with industry regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate feedback and continuously improve program content and delivery methods.
- Coordinate the onboarding process for new farmers, including recruitment, orientation, and initial training sessions.
- Establish clear expectations and objectives for new farmers, providing guidance on program requirements, timelines, and performance metrics.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for new farmers, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and facilitating a smooth transition into Vital Farms programs.
- Conduct training sessions, workshops, and field demonstrations to educate farmers on topics such as Vital Farms standards and practices, new barn construction, pest management, irrigation techniques, and sustainable farming practices.
- Utilize a variety of instructional methods, including classroom instruction, hands-on demonstrations, and online learning modules, to accommodate diverse learning styles and preferences.
- Monitor the progress and performance of participating farmers, collecting data and feedback to assess program effectiveness and individual development.
- Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and inform program adjustments. Collaborate with monitoring and evaluation teams to conduct regular assessments and evaluations of farmer training outcomes and impact.
- Foster positive relationships with farmer communities, local partners, and agricultural stakeholders to promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, and resource mobilization.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Business Administration, Information Technology or related field.
- 4+ years’ experience in learning and development and/or instructional design required, knowledge and expertise in agriculture preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, instructional design, and training facilitation, preferably in a farming or rural development context.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and empower diverse audiences, including farmers, community leaders, and stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and coordinate cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with experience in monitoring and evaluating program outcomes and impact.
- Knowledge of sustainable agriculture, environmental stewardship, and rural development principles is desirable.
- Flexibility to travel as needed to rural locations and work occasional weekends or evenings as needed.
- Proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
