Are you excited about this Family Support Counselor job?

As a Family Support Counselor at Kids in Distress, your day-to-day responsibilities will include conducting assessments of families in crisis, developing service plans, providing counseling and support services, and collaborating with community resources to ensure families receive comprehensive care. You will work closely with families to address their needs, strengthen parenting skills, and promote family stability. Additionally, you will maintain detailed case notes, participate in team meetings, and continually assess and adjust intervention strategies to meet the evolving needs of the families you serve. This role requires compassion, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

What Matters Most

To excel as a Family Support Counselor at Kids in Distress, you must possess a Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Social Work or a related field. Additionally, you should have a minimum of two years of experience working with children and families, demonstrating a strong understanding of family dynamics and crisis intervention strategies. A valid driver's license with no restrictions and a good driving record are essential, along with access to a reliable vehicle with proper automobile liability insurance.

Knowledge And Skills Required For The Position Are

  • Bachelors degree or Graduate degree in Social Work or related field; and at least two (2) years of experience working with children and families.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with no restrictions; good driving record (no serious infractions); vehicle in good working condition; automobile liability insurance that meets minimum agency requirements.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
