Summary, Job Description, And Qualifications

Job Title: Family Engagement Supervisor - FCCS MCE

Reports To: Program Director

Direct Reports: Family Engagement Coordinator

Summary

Applying the principles of Systems of Care, the FCCS Family Engagement Supervisor is responsible for coordinating, developing, overseeing, and providing clinical and administrative guidance to a team of Family Engagement Coordinators who perform child welfare casework including all out of home placements of children; provide general casework services to children and their families; protective services and case management to abused, neglected, dependent, unruly and/or delinquent children; provide support and direction to families; and coordinate with the court system and other community agencies for treatment. This will be done in a professional manner, valuing every child, honoring families, and valuing partnerships and, in alignment with The Village Network’s Mission, Vision and Core Values.

Essential Tasks, Duties, And Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff, including advising staff on policies and procedures for child welfare casework practices to include assessing service needs, providing case direction, instructing, and training staff.
  • Complete employee performance evaluations and personnel documents; provides verbal and written direct to staff regarding performance expectations and plans.
  • Work with staff to enhance professional development and provide candid feedback.
  • Participate in various family/professional meetings to optimize family outcomes.
  • Participate in the recruitment, interviewing and training of new Family Engagement Coordinators.
  • Review and approve staff tools, assessments, and other documentation; assign and close cases served by the team; schedule deadlines and meetings for various casework responsibilities.
  • Evaluate referrals for services and processes, approval for home studies and, services provided by other agencies.
  • Routinely reviews and utilizes pertinent agency reports to ensure optimum service delivery and staff performance.
  • Perform crisis intervention/counseling; resolve complaints when necessary; provide direct and indirect services in the absence of a Family Engagement Coordinator, including providing testimony at court and/or family home visits. Work alongside families to move case toward permanency.
  • Assist and actively participate in management, planning and committee meetings; attend meetings with supervisor and other supervisors to discuss information and/or personal development; assist peers as needed; participate in agency planning; attend staff development to remain current in philosophy, policies and procedures of casework and management practice.
  • Conduct team meetings to build cohesiveness; review instructional materials and share information on new procedures and methods of treatment; present relevant topics that support the continuous development and education of staff’s core knowledge while considering best practice in child welfare.
  • Ensure achievement of monthly and yearly goals for staff and program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Master’s degree in social work or related area and at least 3 years’ child welfare/social work experience or bachelor’s degree in social work or related area with at least 4 years’ child welfare/social work experience. Must have relevant supervisory and administrative skills.
  • Have a background and experience in one or more of the following areas of expertise: family systems, community systems and resources, case management, child and family counseling or therapy, child protection, or child development.
  • Be culturally competent or responsive with training and experience necessary to manage complex cases.
  • Have the qualifications and experience needed to work with children and families who are experiencing SED, trauma, co-occurring behavioral health disorders and who are engaged with one or more child-serving systems (e.g., child welfare, juvenile justice, education).
  • Ability to use a computer; proficiency in Word and Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License and maintains a driving record that allows that individual to be insurable with the insurance company providing The Village Network with vehicle insurance.
  • Willingness to travel for various reasons, mainly during the day but occasionally overnight. Ability to visit clients’ homes (may or may not be handicapped accessible).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong teamwork and organization/time management skills.

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine, computer printer, etc.
  • Ability to communicate (verbally and written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company
  • Ability to handle bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, reaching, and walking for periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds independently
