Family Engagement Specialist

Engage and follow up with patients diagnosed with substance abuse, mental health, or co-occurring disorders who are also involved with the child welfare system of care. Significant local travel required with no out of state travel.

SCOPE OF WORK

The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position.

  • Perform initial web based, phone or in-person consultation to determine client-specific needs and goals
  • Process discharges and intakes of new clients, including entry into various databases as required by the program.
  • Work with all assigned clients to maintain stability for treatment.
  • Process correspondence, reports, forms, and miscellaneous paperwork as requested by supervisor/management.
  • Prepare and maintain various tracking logs and client/administrative files.
  • Work with clients in treatment or awaiting treatment to effectively manage medical, financial, legal, or other issues that are barriers to successful completion of treatment episode.
  • Participate in clinical staffing and team meetings.
  • Compile and update charts. Scan needed material into charts. Maintain paper copies as needed by the program.
  • Provide crisis intervention, as needed
  • Submit reports and complete documentation as required

Education Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree

Related Experience

  • One to Two years

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports. Ability to speak effectively. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Understanding of Motivational Interviewing techniques, and knowledge of recovery-oriented principles of managing behavioral health issues, behavior modification, case management of mental health and addiction.

Regularly required to sit and talk or hear; stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, and lift or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision requirements required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
