Family & Crisis Advocate

The YWCA Greater Harrisburg is seeking a full-time Family & Crisis Advocate. This professional representative will provide victim services to child victims of domestic and sexual violence and their families at UPMC's Children's Advocacy Center. The YWCA and UPMC have a longstanding and productive partnership, working together through various disciplines to reduce the trauma and aftermath of abuse for children and their families. In this role, the advocate will provide crisis intervention, supportive counseling, information, and referrals, and connect families to ongoing services provided on-site at UPMC's Children's Advocacy Center. In addition, the advocate also provides support to the YWCA's domestic and sexual violence programs, assisting with hotline coverage, shelter services, safety planning, and other crisis-related services at the YWCA's main office. Position Details: Hours: 37.5 hour work week; Monday-Friday; some on-call as needed. Successful Candidates Will Have: The ability to maintain a professional demeanor, dress appropriately, and with an emphasis on treating others with respect, while maintaining a positive attitude The ability to work independently while exercising good judgment and adhering to program policies Conducting oneself with responsibility, accountability, integrity, and a drive for excellence Ability to balance assigned tasks and priorities daily Prior crisis intervention experience and/or experience working with victims Ability, experience, and willingness to work with children and families Advanced communication skills (written and verbal), proven de-escalation skills, along with interpersonal and time management skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel) Position Requirements: Bachelor's degree in human services or related field with prior related work experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered Valid driver's license, clean driving history, and reliable personal vehicle.
