The Quincy Institute (QI) Internship Program provides an opportunity for undergraduate, graduate students, and recent graduates from diverse backgrounds to engage in career exploration and development. The research intern will provide students and recent graduates a meaningful and practical work experience related to the student’s field of study or career interest. The research intern will have the opportunity to attend internal meetings, attend external as well as QI events online or in-person.
Interns will be required to work from the Quincy Institute’s Washington, DC office on a hybrid basis.
Responsibilities
Primarily assist senior staff in researching issues related to Russia, the countries of the former USSR, NATO and the European Union, and US policy towards these countries and regions
Contribute to products that range from original policy research to rapid analysis to op-ed writing
Provide research support to other Quincy Institute staff as needed
Research of both background reading (books, essays, surveys and reports) and tracking the daily and weekly news on these subjects
Demonstrate a keen interest in the foreign policy approach of the Quincy Institute and an interest in working in a dynamic and ambitious environment
Assist with general administrative work for the Quincy Institute
Requirements
Background knowledge and interest on issues related to Europe and the former USSR, as well as the IR theory of restraint, and familiarity with issues related to U.S. foreign and security policy and ongoing policy debates in the United States
Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in political science, international relations, or a related field in the social sciences or humanities, or be a recent graduate in the aforementioned areas
Strong writing and research skills, including basic familiarity with AP style guide
Proficient technical skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite applications
Basic understanding of data analysis and presentation

This position pays $17.00 per hour.
