Description: Join the Legal Pathway Society as a Legal Journalism and Communications Intern. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about legal journalism and looking to gain hands-on experience in the field. The intern will report on legal news, write articles, and manage communications. Working closely with senior legal journalist and communications specialists, the intern will help produce high-quality legal content for various platforms, contributing to the Society's mission of enhancing legal awareness and education.


Responsibilities:

Research and Reporting:

  • Conduct thorough research on current legal issues, court cases, and legislative developments.
  • Stay updated with the latest legal news and trends.
  • Write well-researched and informative articles, blog posts, and press releases.

Content Creation:

  • Develop engaging and informative content tailored to different audiences, including legal professionals, students, and the general public.
  • Craft compelling stories and profiles of legal professionals and notable cases.

Social Media Management:

  • Assist in managing and updating the Society's social media accounts (e.g., Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook).
  • Create and schedule posts to promote articles, events, and other content.
  • Engage with the online community by responding to comments and messages.

Interviews and Networking:

  • Conduct interviews with legal professionals, including attorneys, judges, and scholars.
  • Write interview-based articles that highlight unique perspectives and insights.
  • Build and maintain a network of contacts within the legal field.

Event Coverage:

  • Attend and cover legal events, seminars, and conferences.
  • Write summaries and reports on key takeaways and developments from these events.
  • Live-tweet or blog about events in real-time to provide immediate coverage.

Communications Support:

  • Assist with internal and external communications, including newsletters and email campaigns.
  • Support the development and implementation of communication strategies.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure consistent messaging and branding.



Educational Background:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Journalism, Communications, Law, or a related field.

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Demonstrated interest in legal issues and the justice system.
  • Experience with social media platforms and content management systems.
  • Basic knowledge of SEO and web analytics is a plus.
