Loyola University Medical Center, Department of Radiation Oncology, seeks an innovative faculty member in the Division of Medical Physics. This position is clinically-focused with responsibilities including quality assurance of linear accelerators, as well as participation in complex procedures (SRS, HDR, IORT, etc). As a faculty member, there will be opportunities for participation in departmental research and education programs (medical and physics residencies).
The successful candidate should have a PhD in medical physics, physics, engineering, computer science or related field, and have completed a medical physics residency program. Areas of research interest within the Department include image-guided radiation therapy, adaptive radiotherapy, motion management techniques, applications of machine learning/artificial intelligence and radiobiological modeling.
The Department of Radiation Oncology is located in Loyola Outpatient Center. The Department has a variety of state-of-the-art equipment including the Varian Edge, two Varian TrueBeam, Varian 2100EX linac, two multi-slice CT scanners, and an Elekta Flexitron/Oncentra High Dose Rate Brachytherapy unit. Treatment planning software consists of Varian Eclipse. ARIA software is used for the radiation oncology information management system. The Department has 6 faculty physicists, 3 clinical physicists, 6 dosimetrists and a medical physics residency program. The position is located at Loyola University Health Sciences Campus that is situated just west of Chicago, and is easily accessible to all the amenities that a large city has to offer, including multiple professional sports teams (football, baseball, basketball, hockey), cultural activities (art museum, museum of natural history, science museum), and diverse ethnic neighborhoods with a variety of fine dining experiences.
