Faculty, Biology, Part-time

The faculty will be responsible for educational leadership and student instruction on a part-time basis in biology courses.


Education


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or closely related discipline. (Minimum)
  • Master’s Degree in Biology or closely related discipline. (Desired)
  • Coursework in or experience using computers in instruction. (Desired)


Experience


  • Equivalent of one-year high school or college experience teaching Biology


courses at the secondary or college level for at least two semesters,


both lecture and laboratory. (Minimum)


  • Prior teaching of Human Anatomy & Physiology courses at the secondary or college level, both lecture and laboratory. (Desired) -Familiarity with laboratory safety procedures. (Minimum)

  • Instruct and evaluate students in biology courses which may include; General Biology, Anatomy and Physiology I and II (lecture and/or laboratory). (Essential)

  • Take attendance and keep records of student attendance. (Essential)
  • Participate in School assessment process. (Essential)
  • Maintain office hours according to the standardized part-time teaching agreement. (Essential)
  • Attend department and School meetings as requested. (Marginal)
  • Possess interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively and courteously with students, faculty, staff and the public. (Essential)
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to diversity and multicultural issues. (Essential)

  • Finalists must present a sample lesson.
  • Candidates for teaching positions must be fluent in the English language (oral and written) – English Fluency in Higher Education Act. (Pennsylvania Senate Bill 539/Act No. 76)
  • May include day, evening, and/or weekend assignments.
  • This position is subject to a background check.


The part-time rate for 2022/23 will be the greater of $1140 per credit or $760 per contact hour, prorated for student enrollment under seven. The approved substitute pay rate is $47.50 per hour during the first week of substituting and the prorated part-time teacher rate for consecutive substitute assignments that exceed one week.
