Job Description

The Facilities Manager is responsible for managing a broad array of activities related to the day-to-day operations at an AbbVie site or similar grouping of facilities within an R&D functional area. The primary goal is to help ensure this multi-function (lab and office) facility is run with the highest level of safety and operational efficiency to support the ongoing research that will be conducted at this site.

Responsibilities:

•Oversee the proper function and maintenance of facility equipment including administrative and scientific equipment. Work with property management regarding any building issues/concerns.

•Manage purchasing activities of the facility for both administrative and lab functions. This includes the purchasing and receiving of scientific equipment and ensuring proper installation.

•Working with leadership to manage budgets related to the operation of the facility or assigned areas of responsibility.

•Coordinate security responsibilities associated with AbbVie’s space such as maintaining employee records for the security system, and responding to building and equipment alarms.

•Employee Health and Safety responsibilities include working with AbbVie EHS staff to ensure the safety of the facility by implementing appropriate protocols/procedures, keeping relevant employee records related to EHS training, maintaining records related to chemical and biological reagents, oversee receipt of hazardous materials, and manage testing of eyewash stations, emergency showers and fire extinguishers.

•Ensure compliance with all internal and external policies that may include areas requiring unique support, such as a Vivarium, and manage relationships with any associated contract service providers.

Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Life Sciences or equivalent experience is required.

•5+ years of broad facilities management experience is required

•Experience in broad biology focused research is preferred

•Experience in managing specialized areas, e.g. Vivarium, is preferred

•Prior EHS experience is preferred

•Attention to detail and ability to manage to timelines, quality and process improvement goals

•Ability to work independently and adjust priorities to achieve accurate and timely results

•Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to collaborate across functions

•Proficient computer skills

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.​
