Facilities Director

We are seeking an experienced Facilities Director with strong leadership skills to support a local college in Smithfield, RI.

This is an onsite role and relocation assistance is available.

Job Summary:

The Director of Facilities Operations is responsible for directing facilities maintenance operations of building(s) and property at a single unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the budget and team
  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships and interact with the Campus Finance team to provide detail-oriented oversight of the day-to-day operations with the Facilities team.
  • Enhance existing and new client programs including short- and long-range planning, construction and renovation projects, preventative and corrective maintenance, energy management, grounds, and landscaping, and janitorial.
  • Govern a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Manage the preventative maintenance and reactive repair of skilled trades, e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and utilities.
  • Handle the hiring, training and supervision of staff, professionals, and management.
  • Oversee performance to achieve excellent customer satisfaction for facility services for all academic, administrative and off-site campus buildings.
  • May supervise construction work and often manages other core company services, and/or logistics of business/operations services, e.g., grounds keeping, laundry, food, security, inventory, mail, concierge services.

Requirements

Education:

  • BS degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

Required:

  • 5+ years' experience as a Director in a campus or university setting.
  • Clear driving record and a valid driver's license.
  • Profound leadership skills with a focus on staff development and team building.
  • Exceptional customer service, relationship building, and communication skills.
  • A proven track record of successful Facilities Management leadership experience demonstrated by articulated results.
  • Experience managing all skilled mechanical trades, grounds and environmental and custodial services in a union campus environment.

Preferred:

  • Strong technical knowledge of and hands on experience with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, grounds and custodial.
  • Certified Facilities Manager (CFM).
