We invite you to apply for the position of Executive Director with our organization. This full-time, salaried role reports to the Board of Directors Executive Committee and offers an exciting opportunity to lead and support our mission and operational functions.
About Us
We bring together IT, telecommunications, software, and hardware professionals across Maine for education, information sharing, and networking. Our diverse membership includes end-users, business leaders, vendors, consultants, government officials, and other stakeholders. Our annual conference and tradeshow stand as Maine's premier technology event, where tech professionals, innovators, and exhibitors gather for a day of learning and networking. We also host monthly educational and social events, featuring independent speakers discussing key business topics from September through April, including webinars and Peers and Beers socials held at various locations from Portland to Bangor.
Key Responsibilities
As the Executive Director, you will serve as the face and professional leader of our organization. Your role includes fundraising, public speaking, and acting as the primary point of contact. You'll work closely with an enthusiastic volunteer Board of Directors and various board subcommittees. Your primary goal is to nurture and expand MTUG's presence to fulfill our mission of connecting IT professionals and business leaders for networking, education, and the exchange of technology experiences.

Membership Analysis and Pricing
Growing end-user membership and involvement through outreach to for-profit and non-profit organizations in Maine
Managing meeting and conference logistics
Coordinating events
Grant writing
Assisting with speaker recruitment
Providing marketing support
Budget management
Qualifications And Skills
The ideal candidate for the Executive Director role is a community leader with a proven track record of successfully leading organizations, achieving goals, and making a positive impact. Key qualifications and skills include:
A passion for information technology education in the state of Maine
Exceptional organizational skills
Ability to set and achieve strategic objectives
Experience in budget development and management
Strong strategic planning and communication skills
Proficiency in program development and task facilitation
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal and persuasive communication skills
Proficiency in multidisciplinary project management
Mission-driven, self-directed, and action-oriented
A positive attitude with integrity and passion
Previous experience working with a Board of Directors or similar entity
Leadership, management, and fundraising experience
Previous Non-profit Leadership Experience Is Preferred
Flexibility regarding duties and schedule
Compensation
The Executive Director is a pivotal role within our organization. Compensation will be commensurate with your experience and abilities, based on agreed-upon roles and responsibilities.
