Executive Director

SUMMARY: Directs individual site in providing social services to individuals, groups, or community by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides leadership in development and implementation of the program in accordance with proposal specifications, funding requirements, and agency policies and procedures.
  • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
  • Develops and implements a social service continuum directed at the needs of disadvantaged families to promote independence and family unification.
  • Prepares and administers annual program budget, monitors expenditures in conformance with standards.
  • Interprets agency purpose and program to community and key stakeholders.
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with other agencies and organizations in community to meet system of care needs.
  • Prepares, distributes, and maintains variety of reports.
  • Designs and executes a family-centered and solution-oriented service planning framework for families, including assessment, service delivery, and service documentation strategies.
  • Reviews the qualifications of all applicants and employees to ensure qualified individuals are treated in a non-discriminatory manner when hiring, promotion, transfer, and terminations occur.
  • Reviews the job performance of each employee to assess whether personnel actions are justified based on employee’s performance of his or her duties and responsibilities.
  • Inspects agency operations and facilities to ensure agency meets standards and procedural criteria.
  • Evaluates program performance and effectiveness through careful data collection.
  • Conducts quality assurance activities.
  • Ensures staff remain in compliance with all applicable trainings.
  • Responsible for fund raising, proposal preparation and contract negotiations for program.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises all employees at individual site. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: MSW or MA in a related human services field (Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Human Services), plus seven years related professional experience, including two years managing staff and/or programs.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid driver's license, appropriate insurance and reliable car.
  • Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must submit to and pass random drug tests during employment.
  • Must successfully pass all background screens as required by the state.
  • Must complete 24 hours of staff development annually.
  • Basic understanding of budgeting and financial statements.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CULTURAL COMPETENCY: Ability to relate, understand, accept and interact in a culturally sensitive manner.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
