What You'll Do

The Event Production Technician will play a critical role in the design, setup, and support of onsite and hybrid events for an established global technology client. This role is responsible for:

  • using their technical expertise and creative innovation to contribute to the overall technical strategy of live events based on the creative vision and unique event scope;
  • utilizing deep knowledge of video equipment and technology to ensure flawless operation of all video equipment and decision-making skills to make real-time adjustments as needed to ensure quality control; and
  • collaborating with team members to optimize the operational setup of the production control room and oversee the troubleshooting of all aspects of the client’s production facilities and control rooms

Day-to-day Responsibilities

  • Provide technical consultation on the production strategy based on the unique event goals, scope, and vision
  • Oversee the design, setup, and configuration of all necessary control room elements to ensure a high- quality event for client productions
  • Determine the required hardware, equipment, and production assets needed for event and oversee the necessary testing and quality control on all items prior
  • Oversee the operational approach to fulfill the creative production needs for client events, including but not limited to:
    • Technical direction
    • Audio mixing
    • Robotic cameras
    • Virtual platforms
    • Graphics
    • Video playback
    • Streaming
    • Lighting design
    • Teleprompter
  • Execute virtual events on various virtual event platforms such as StreamYard, Wirecast, and VMix
  • Provide support for staging and creative lighting design
  • Use expert knowledge of production equipment to ensure optimization of all equipment configurations and setups. Use complex decision making to recommend repair or replacement of equipment
  • Collaborate on the assessment and recommendation of solutions around overall strategy for studio and event spaces based on operational requirements.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with team members to ensure alignment on event procedures, scheduling, and production briefs as required

What We're Looking For

Must-have skills & job qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in the area of event production, broadcast, video production, or another similar field
  • 1+ years of experience in onsite, virtual, and hybrid live events
  • Studio production and event experience
  • Experience with control room equipment including video switchers, audio consoles, robotic cameras, and video playback software
  • Knowledge of virtual production and meeting platforms
  • A keen eye for detail with a knowledge of what creatively works well for broadcast production
  • Track record of being strategic, organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and working well in a team atmosphere, as well as having the capability to work well individually, is essential
  • Ability to maintain composure and a positive attitude during high pressure situations
  • Strong work ethic, self-direction, self-motivation, patience, persistence, and perspective
  • Excellent collaboration and customer relationship skills with the understanding of the importance of white glove service
  • Ability to work independently and be self-reliant in the execution of daily responsibilities
  • Consistent proactive preparation and timely responses to multiple channels of communication

Nice-to-have skills

  • Experience with Ross production environments and video switchers including Ultrix routers, Carbonite and Ultra switchers
  • Experience with audio production systems including Yamaha audio consoles, Dante audio routing networks, Shure microphones, and intercom systems
  • Experience with Panasonic PTZ Cameras
  • Familiarity with post-production software including Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro
  • College degree in video production, broadcasting, communications, or similar field

Other Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Travel is required based on requirements and location of productions and service needs including meetings at client offices and AVI-SPL VideoLink offices
  • Ability to lift/carry 50lbs
  • Ability to climb ladders and perform overhead work
