What Your Role Entails And How You'll Contribute

As an Event Consultant, you will develop, plan, and execute professional and memorable events and experiences for retailers, consumers, business partners, and employees to deliver business results, enhance the company’s reputation, advance business relationships, and drive employee engagement. This role is accountable for:

  • Developing event plans and overseeing end-to-end event strategy and logistics (e.g. agenda management, registration sites, catering, transportation, hotel, post-event analysis and recaps, etc.) for external, business-to-business, and internal events.
  • Creating end-to-end alignment between internal and external partners (e.g. business partners, communications leads, design teams, visual merchandising, external vendors) to ensure clarity on event goals and outcomes.
  • Bringing forward new ideas, solutions and event trends.
  • Negotiating event-specific contracts with vendors; oversee vendors during event planning and execution process.
  • Delivering effective events and experiences on budget, on time, and on strategy.

To be effective in this role, you must have the ability to manage large, complex projects with multiple priorities and deadlines. You must also have strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, as you will interact with employees and business partners at all roles and levels, including senior executives.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or at least 4 years of professional work experience
  • Minimum five years of experience in event planning, event management, project management, or logistics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a business or marketing emphasis
  • Event management certification
  • 2+ years of experience with online registration and event application development
  • Strong technical event skills
  • Prior experience organizing corporate events, including meetings with retail customers
  • Exemplary communication skills (verbal, written, consulting) and organization skills
  • Can manage multiple priorities and details
  • Can command a fast paced environment with a high volume of change that requires real-time adjustment and problem solving
  • Effectively works with diverse audiences
  • Personal leadership skills: self-motivated, high degree of personal accountability, leads beyond their role, resilient and positive attitude

Additional Details

  • This is a hybrid role based in our Kansas City, MO headquarters building. You will need to be available to be on site as needed for event planning and execution. Some travel to event locations outside of Kansas City will be required.
