Review contract plans, specifications, and related documents for the assigned bid items thoroughly.
Perform detailed quantity take-offs for the assigned bid items.
Familiarize oneself with general requirements, special conditions, and proposal requirements; discuss any queries with the Lead Estimator.
Identify any unusual items within the bid items.
Maintain and update bid documents systematically.
Submit and maintain a log of Request for Information (RFIs) and Request for Clarification (RFCs).
Obtain quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
Prepare comparison sheets using HCSS software.
Assist in the preparation of the bid schedule.
Identify Disadvantaged/Minority/Women-Owned Business Enterprise (D/M/WBE) requirements and prepare Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) using SmartBid.
Develop clear write-ups and necessary documentation for Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) or Request for Proposal (RFP) type proposals.
Collaborate in preparing documents for bid and proposal submissions.
For Joint Venture bids, compare and reconcile quantities accurately.
Demonstrate strong communication skills and teamwork abilities.
Willingly accept direction and seek assistance or clarification when needed.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited institution (preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction, including at least 3 years in Estimating roles.
Proficiency in software applications including:
HCSS Heavy Bid
Blue Beam
Excel
Primavera P6
SmartBid
The salary range for this position is between $90,000 and $150,000, depending on the candidate's experience level.
