This position will support the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of watershed improvement and mine remediation projects, including but not limited to: - Water quality sampling for E. coli, metals, and other chemistry parameters
Other tasks include data entry, management, and synthesis, trip and equipment preparation
Building and deploying mobile phone and satellite communication technology and environmental sensors
Providing field support to staff and project partners on watershed improvement and mine remediation projects
Implementing, monitoring, and measuring the effectiveness of best management practices
Assisting in other projects and duties as assigned
This position can work from home, and will require some field work near streams. Field work will be roughly 30% of the time.
Use Geographic Information Systems software at a basic level
Conduct basic data analysis
Review and analyze literature and peer-reviewed scientific research
Utilize and oversee databases
Background or interest in coding and electronics or willingness to become proficient; remote environmental monitoring
On occasion, work long days under sometimes difficult field conditions (hot, cold, wet, uneven terrain)
Willingness and availability to sample stormflow and spring runoff water samples on short notice
Experience Preferred
1 to 3 years' experience in environmental sciences, natural resources, hydrology, geology, or related field Field experience Watershed project implementation
Education Required
Bachelor's degree or higher in environmental sciences, natural resources, hydrology, geology, or related field
