Working on the Early/Head Start Network (EHSN) team, you will provide support to community-based agencies to enable them to implement high quality, Head Start and Early Head Start programs.

The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator ensures program compliance in the areas of Health and Safety as outlined in the Head Start Performance Standards. This position is responsible for conducting environmental health assessments and supporting programs in developing systems for environmental health and safety procedures for their site. This position will report to the Environmental Health and Safety Supervisor.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Environmental Health and Safety compliance program to ensure local, state and federal regulations are being met.
  • Develop improvement plans for compliance adherence for areas that are not meeting Environmental Health and Safety requirements.
  • Design, develop, and deliver training on Environmental Health and Safety standards for healthy practices and routines, providing safe and supportive environments for children, safe physical environments, and safe transportation services; complete documentation and prepare reporting on compliance.
  • Provide technical assistance on the Environmental Health and Safety content area.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled site visits to supervise and inspect health & safety checklists for all Centers.
  • Ensure that all Head Start and Early Head Start facility outdoor learning environments are well maintained and have no safety issues.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Human Services, or related ?eld.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in Head Start compliance training and environmental health and safety monitoring.
  • Knowledge of early childhood programs and practices.
  • Solid understanding of Head Start performance standards, licensing standards for daycare centers, and knowledge of child transportation regulations and requirements.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced work environment while prioritizing and meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), project management, and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to process and protect con?dential information professionally.
  • Must be knowledgeable of local, state, and federal child care licensing requirements.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and ?scal planning.
  • Proven track record of working in a multi-cultural, interdisciplinary environment and with diverse community-based agencies, family support programs, and other groups.
  • Optimally establish and maintain worthwhile relationships with customers and gain their trust and respect.
  • Solaced and experienced in handling risk and uncertainty to move work forward.
  • Occasional lifting to 25 pounds, stooping, bending standing, and reaching.
  • Deep commitment to advancing diversity, racial equity, and incorporating them into interpersonal routines and practice.
  • Efficiently establish and handle relationships with colleagues/clients and gain their trust and respect.
  • Relief and experience in handling risk and uncertainty to move work forward.

Salary: We believe that all employees should be paid fairly and equitably. As of the time of this posting, the expected base annual salary range for this position is $67,125.00 - $72,000.00. The base annual salary will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, as well as business needs and limitations.
