Summary
The Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The successful candidate will have a strong background in environmental health and safety management, with experience in risk assessment, hazard identification, and incident investigation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
- Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.
- Develops health and safety procedures for all areas of the Company.
- Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
- Monitors compliance with safety procedures.
- Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings.
- Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
- Maintains records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Works closely with Human Resources to ensure accurate and reliable training records.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field or equivalent experience.
- Five years of related experience preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
- Excellent verbal, written and communication skills; POSITIVE and friendly demeanor.Strong attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Supportive and helpful attitude.
- Sense of urgency
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and involved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
The ability to recognize and evaluate technical issues and limitations is required. The ability to define and manage expectations is critical. The ability to make sound decisions and actions is required.
