Engineering Manager

You are a skilled engineering manager with a passion for enhancing user experiences. You thrive in environments where you can collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Search teams to deliver high-quality search experiences. This role reports to the Senior Director of Engineering and can be based anywhere within the U.S.

What You Will Do:

• Domain Expertise
• Lead and mentor a team dedicated to enhancing the search experience, ensuring users find relevant content quickly and efficiently
• Guide your team in applying best practices in search technologies, mobile optimization, and working with product, design, and search teams
• Facilitate knowledge sharing and technical learning within your team
• Delivery
• Ensure high standards of code quality, conduct code reviews, and mentor team members to elevate coding practices
• Oversee project execution, ensuring timely delivery and effective task management
• Communication
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders about project status and expectations
• Collaborate with engineering leaders to align team efforts with organizational objectives and product goals
• Leadership
• Mentor and guide your team with regular code reviews, pair programming, one-on-one sessions, career and growth planning, and performance reviews
  

What You Bring to the Table:

Required

• Experienced manager with a track record of transforming and building high performing teams
• Strong product partnership experience with dedicated product managers
• Ability to guide, mentor, and develop the team's performance
• Experience with PHP (legacy), Next.js, React, Node, Python
• Familiarity with search technologies and mobile optimization
• Experience working with Product, Design, and Search teams (including Data Science / Machine Learning)
• Learning-oriented, emphasizing continuous learning for yourself and the team
• Strong ownership and accountability
• Attention to detail and a commitment to product quality
  
  

Preferred

• You have experience with both B2B and B2C environments (ecommerce, self-service first)
• You have experience with DORA metrics and engineering productivity tools like LinearB
• You are familiar with Datadog for monitoring and performance tracking
  
  

What We Bring to the Table:

• Competitive and fair compensation: We believe in fair pay--equal pay for equal work. For each title, we consistently apply competitive salary bands based on market data and benchmarks which are reviewed twice a year. What you've been paid before, fear of conflict, or willingness to negotiate does not play a part in determining your pay.
• The annual base salary range for this position is $173,000 - $183,000. Placement within the range is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to: knowledge, skills, years & depth of experience, and equity with internal team members.
• 401(k) retirement plan: We offer both a Traditional and Roth 401(k) with a company match.

• Paid parental leave: Welcoming new family members is exciting, but it can also be challenging. We offer twelve weeks paid leave for primary caregivers and four weeks for secondary caregivers.
