The Role

Nabis is seeking a highly skilled and empathetic Engineering Manager to inspire and lead the team of engineers. The Engineering Manager will be a key player on the leadership team, driving strategic initiatives, ensuring projects run smoothly, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

The ideal candidate will possess solid technical chops and is passionate about mentoring and growing engineering talent. The Engineering Manager will work closely with the Engineers, Product, and Design teams, as well as with external partners, to keep things aligned, maintain quality, and hit project deadlines. As a technical leader, the Engineering Manager will set the bar high, ensuring the build of top-notch, scalable, and flexible solutions while leading by example.

Responsibilities:



  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers, fostering an inclusive and high-performing culture.
  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software applications.
  • Write clean, scalable, and efficient code in accordance with industry best practices.
  • Review and improve existing code to enhance performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Champion industry standards and best practices in our codebase through hands-on examples, code reviews, clear documentation, and implementing accountability tools.
  • Develop talent by tracking KPIs, identifying gaps, providing education, and conducting performance reviews for continuous improvement.
  • Review technical designs, offer guidance on proposals, and oversee planning, prioritization, and execution of engineering projects.
  • Document and report progress to the team and key stakeholders, ensuring alignment on strategic goals.
  • Facilitate agile meetings (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, backlog grooming) and enhance agile processes.
  • Serve as a technical resource for the product team, providing insights and solutions during product requirement refinement.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align on strategic goals and coordinate efforts for cohesive project execution.
  • Keep stakeholders informed with clear updates on project status, risks, and successes.
  • Gain deep business understanding to propose, lead, and execute projects aligned with product roadmaps and business needs.
  • Maintain reliability, performance, and security of applications and infrastructure.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to address system challenges promptly and ensure continuous system availability.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years in Software Engineering, with the last 3+ years in technical and people leadership roles, ideally in fast-paced startup environments where you've scaled engineering teams and adapted strategies as business needs evolved.
  • Proven ability to work seamlessly with product, design, and other stakeholders, demonstrating excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Skilled at inspiring and guiding team members, driving high performance through empathetic leadership and effective mentorship, and advocating for process and technical improvements.
  • Experienced in setting and enforcing development standards, implementing Agile processes, and leading engineering teams, with a knack for leading technical discussions and driving consensus.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiar with our tech stack and ready to dive into the details.
