General Role Overview:

If you are an experienced, "hands-on" and passionate manager with an engineering background who is in constant pursuit of learning, sharing and providing management and technical expertise, you may just be what we are looking for.

The Manager of Engineering is a hands-on position that oversees the management of all areas of product engineering including R&D, testing and validation, technical program launch and other activities related to the company products design. This role works closely with the Sales group on current programs and helps to win new business. The position falls within the Metal Formed Products group.




Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key member of the management team that sets the company’s strategic direction and formulates both long and short-range plans, policies, programs and objectives.
  • Develop strategic planning for the direction and control of product development and technical support activities.
  • Formulate long-term objectives and standards of performance for the department and ensure that it achieves objectives and project completion within budget and time frame.
  • Be a student of current industry trends, ensuring that the company maintains and expands its technology leadership position.
  • Ensure that product development and technical support are focused on meeting and exceeding the customer requirements and expectations.
  • Develop plans and procedures for maintaining high standards of product design ensuring products conform to established customer and company quality standards.
  • Manage our process of capturing, organizing and optimizing expert knowledge and making it accessible everywhere for everyone with the use of the Intelligent Troubleshooting Software.
  • Implement and manage our software solution for issue tracking, workflow, customer support, print storage.
  • Work with direct reports to create a “preferred place to work” culture.
  • Drive quality performance, efficiencies and waste reduction through Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Manage the team of engineers who are launching new products to ensure all customer deliverables are met.


Qualifications

  • Minimum BSME, 10+ years of engineering and / or manufacturing process experience, OEM supply chain domain with at least 3+ years in a management position.
  • Design Engineer experience with some management background must have
  • Working in Metal formed parts – tubing, stamping, casting, forging, assemblies. Driveline, Steering Suspension Must have
  • OEM experience
  • Demonstrated team building and leadership skills.
  • “Out of the box thinker” must be key driver contributing to the products roadmap and willing to take innovative product risk while balancing the road map for on time deliverables.
  • Manage diverse, simultaneous projects of varying complexities.
  • Strong relationship management, strategy development, project management, problem solving and change management
  • Professional and positive approach, self-motivated, strong in building relationships, team player, dynamic, creative with the ability to work on own initiative.
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Competencies:


  • Ability to work in various engineering software packages including CATIA, ProE, UG, AutoCAD, Solidworks, NX. Supervisory skills, ability to work well with the customer on various issues.
  • GANTT development and tracking knowledge.
  • Great people skills.
  • Ability to work within critical deadlines, perform well under pressure at times.
  • Knowledge of Metal Formed parts (design, development, validation, manufacture etc.) including: Steel Tubing, Driveline products (propshaft, axle), Steel Stampings, Aluminum Castings, Aluminum Forgings, Steel Forgings, and other metal assemblies.


Working Condition (if any): Corporate based position, in-office full time (no remote), may occasionally require plant visits and support of customer meetings.
