Engineering Manager - Specialty Components Manufacturing Company
Amotec is leading a search for an Engineering Manager on behalf of a prominent specialty components manufacturing company located in Cleveland, OH. This role is crucial for overseeing all process engineering activities and driving continuous improvement within the engineering department.
Position Overview:
As the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for directing, planning, organizing, and supervising the engineering team. You will play a vital role in developing process routings, supporting new product introductions, and continuously improving individual value streams.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff in developing and optimizing production value streams.
Assign tasks, establish procedures, and review completed work to ensure quality and efficiency.
Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams on design modifications to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness.
Conduct continuous improvement studies and analyze manufacturing costs.
Provide leadership to maintenance and facilities departments to ensure production areas and equipment are operational.
Work with the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team on capital equipment planning.
Manage productivity improvements and projects to ensure capacity and world-class delivery.
Participate in Lean Manufacturing Kaizen events, Six Sigma projects, and other improvement initiatives.
Develop and implement staff training programs in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Root Cause Analysis.
Solve manufacturing performance issues using engineering analysis and support tools.
Optimize workforce utilization, product flow, and equipment/workspace design for maximum efficiency using 5S, Visual Management, Kanban, and other methodologies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of mechanical/hydraulic presses, molding, heat-treating, electronic controls, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
Hands-on shop floor experience and diverse manufacturing process knowledge.
Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma training/certification (Green or Black Belt) is a plus.
Excellent communication, facilitation, and coaching skills.
Strong analytical abilities and computer skills.
