Summary

A leading Aerospace Manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a talented team of systems, electrical, mechanical, and software engineers at our aerospace facility in Tempe, AZ. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Engineering department, driving innovation, and ensuring the successful execution of design engineering functions aligned with our business objectives. You will play a crucial part in guiding technical advancements, managing complex projects, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, program management, and talent development for the Engineering function.
  • Direct all design engineering functions to support business objectives.
  • Offer technical guidance to Engineering and Sales/Marketing teams, including customer visits and tracking industry trends.
  • Manage complex design activities, meeting program objectives within cost and schedule requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, systems, and products.
  • Oversee personnel decisions including hiring, appraisals, promotions, and compensation.
  • Collaborate with business leadership on technical presentations and budget/schedule estimates for new program opportunities.
  • Ensure team stays current with industry technology advancements.
  • Manage job assignments, manpower estimates, project status, bid support, training, and budget management.


Requirements:

  • Education: Undergraduate degree in Engineering (EE, ME, CS, ChE); advanced degree desired.
  • Experience: 5+ years in Engineering Management in a highly regulated industry (Aerospace, Automotive, Medical, etc.).
  • Technical Knowledge: Power systems, electronic design, and software development processes.
  • Standards Expertise: Familiarity with aerospace environmental and development standards (MIL-STD-810, DO-160, DO-178, DO-254, etc.).
  • Product Development: Experience with aerospace product development lifecycles for hardware/software co-development.
  • Program Management: Strong skills in managing projects with adherence to schedule and cost requirements.
  • Motivation and Drive: Ability to motivate teams to meet program requirements.
  • Product Launch: Proven track record of bringing complex technical products to market.
  • Proposal Writing: Experience in writing technical proposals and NRE estimates.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for team leadership and executive management interface.
  • Design for Manufacture: Experience in co-designing with Operations teams to address DFM issues..
  • Presentation Skills: Ability to present complex technical information to varied audiences.
  • Obsolescence Management: Experience managing obsolescence issues, sourcing alternatives, and implementing product improvements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Demonstrated success in driving continuous improvement programs.
