Position Description

Position Title: Engineering Maintenance Technician

Duration: Full-Time

Work Location: Decatur, Illinois

Position Summary

The Engineering Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance (PM) on all facility and production equipment across two facilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Install new equipment and perform preventative maintenance on all facility and production equipment.
  • Perform mechanical, electrical, and HVAC activities as needed.
  • Maintain production equipment such as filling, packaging, washing, and sterilization equipment.
  • Service facility equipment including air handlers, boilers, compressors, pumps, chillers, water treatment systems, and general building maintenance.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on production and facility equipment.
  • Work any shift as required and respond to scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
  • Carry and respond to communication devices like cell phones, pagers, or radios.
  • Collaborate with departments to enhance manufacturing capacity by improving equipment reliability.
  • Maintain open communication across departments and with management.
  • Document and record operating and maintenance data; prepare purchase requisitions as directed.
  • Assist with Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) activities.
  • Perform soft soldering and solvent plastic welding for pressure applications with precision and quality.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Monitor and control facility alarm systems, communicating conditions to authorized personnel.
  • Utilize basic hand tools, power tools, and meters (DVM, Amp, Ohm).
  • Adhere to OSHA and company safety requirements.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and equipment installation diagrams.
  • Respond promptly to critical facility issues including environmental monitoring, security, and fire alarms.

Education And Experience

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Basic knowledge or educational training in mechanical, electrical, or electronic equipment.
  • One to two years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.

Job Prerequisites

  • Ability to maintain regular attendance and work a 40-hour week.
  • Willingness to work additional hours as necessary to meet deadlines.

Physical Demands, Mental Requirements, And Work Environment

  • Regularly involves lifting up to 50 lbs., sitting, standing, walking, talking, and hearing.
  • Requires use of hands for handling tools and equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities such as close vision for reading and computer use.

  • Deductive reasoning skills and ability to grasp complex issues.
