At Ndustrial, we are at the forefront of innovation in industrial energy solutions with our Nsight Energy Intensity Platform. As the Director of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in driving innovation, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and ensuring that our engineering efforts align with our strategic goals. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Engineering & Product. In this role, you will be responsible for multiple engineering teams that are building, maintaining, and supporting our Nsight Energy Intensity Platform. This includes scrum development teams, customer support team, quality assurance, system integrations, and DevOps.

You will ensure that the engineering teams are delivering the right outcomes through our patterns of planning, grooming, reviewing code, testing, and continuously deploying. You will make sure each team member has what they need to make progress, develop their skills, and grow professionally. You will be responsible for our infrastructure and ensure all internal systems operate securely and effectively. You will also make sure we continually improve our patterns and coordinate with other teams including Product, Services, and Sales.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, motivate, grow, and develop front-end and back-end development teams while prioritizing their projects and setting objectives
  • Work cross-functionally with senior management across the organization to plan the key outcomes for your team that align with our company goals
  • Own your teamʼs outcomes for designing, building, testing, and deploying valuable features for our customers
  • Foster a culture of innovation and disruption, encouraging teams to explore new technologies and methodologies to enhance our platform
  • Actively participate in scoping, estimating, and code reviews to ensure best practices are being followed for quality and teamwork
  • Drive the adoption of best practices throughout the software development lifecycle, from planning and coding to testing and deployment
  • Collaborate with the product team to align on the most important customer challenges and business needs
  • Oversee the reliability and performance of our platform and internal systems, continuously monitoring and optimizing as needed
  • Ensure compliance with security regulations and implement a robust QA strategy to uphold our quality standards
  • Ensure the engineering team is utilizing a market leading tech stack that is reliable, scalable, and reduces development and support costs
  • Manage the engineering department's budget effectively to support strategic initiatives and operational needs
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for new integrations with customer and third party platforms
  • Act as a constructive voice in shaping our collaborative culture and driving initiatives that support our overall mission


Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering/development, with recent experience in a startup environment
  • 7+ years of engineering management experience, including hands-on leadership of diverse technical teams and managing through periods of high growth and limited resources
  • Proven track record of implementing agile methodologies and driving continuous delivery in high-performing teams
  • Experience enabling teams to own outcomes without having to be hands-on with technical details of the team
  • Strategic leadership abilities with a demonstrated capacity to navigate a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Experience working in an agile team that continuously delivers value for customers and understands the needs that come with that
  • Extensive knowledge of cloud technologies and their application in scalable, reliable systems
  • BSc/MSc in Engineering, Computer Science or relevant field
