What You'll Do
As an Engineered Materials Technical Manager, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, managing R&D efforts to support business growth in TempRite’s engineered materials for non-pipe applications. You'll collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing and enhance modern life. The Technical Manager will work closely with a cross functional team to deliver technical solutions for new and exciting applications while building our intellectual property real estate.

What You'll Do
As an Engineered Materials Technical Manager, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, managing R&D efforts to support business growth in TempRite’s engineered materials for non-pipe applications. The Technical Manager will work closely with a cross functional team to deliver technical solutions for new and exciting applications while building our intellectual property real estate.
What We're Looking For
- Ensure excellent personal and process safety, regulatory, and housekeeping performance in laboratory operations.
- Champion intellectual property efforts by developing a deep knowledge of the patent landscape and tracking pertinent literature. Ensure that the team aggressively seeks IP protection when possible.
- Manage a team of independent researchers focused on formulation and characterization of CPVC compounds with a keen focus on processing and product performance.
- Demonstrate deep understanding of formulating components and their impact of on the finished good properties.
- Collaborate with Operations, Applications, Technical Service, Procurement, and manufacturing plants to scale up new products to meet customer needs.
- Engage with customers, commercial partners, and others in R&D to help drive the successful development of new products.
- Supervise and lead cross-functional project team to develop compounds to meet diverse end-use applications.
- Maintain accurate and clear records and written reports on experimental data and interpretation of results. Evaluate experimental and production data and identify trends.
- Communicate effectively to a global audience between key stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
- Ph.D. in chemistry/polymer science/materials science (or closely related field) from an accredited college/university and 5+ years of experience in a R&D or production environment focused on polymer synthesis/processing or a BS in chemical engineering with 10 years of experience.
- Ability to take initiative, lead decisively, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent organizational and communications skills (written and verbal).
- Demonstrated ability to utilize formulation expertise to solve problems and develop product technology.
- Experience in writing technical reports to communicate information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Willingness to adhere to all lab safety and personal protective equipment requirements, including use of a respirator as needed.
- Strong PC skills including MS Office Suite
- Ability to travel as required (less than 25%)
- Previous experience in people leadership
- Compounding and processing experience of PVC, CPVC, or related polymers
- Knowledge of polymer processing and associated testing and analysis techniques
- Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis principles
- Hands on experience in producing plastic sheet and foam
- Industrial/manufacturing experience
