Job Purpose

The Juvenile Correctional Officer Recruitment Coordinator of employment services will ensure the successful coordination and completion of the entire selection and onboarding processes for the agency’s Juvenile Correctional Officer and other security staff. The incumbent will participate in various recruitment initiatives and other HR functions based on the needs of the Division with the continued focus on filling the agency’s vacancies.

Job Responsibilities

Ensures all candidates complete the required steps to comply with the Department of Social Services, Criminal Justice Academy, and all relevant agencies.

Conducts all pre-employment background checks (PREA, ERMIS, NCIC) on selected candidates and provides approved background checks to the employment services specialist to continue the hiring process.

Reviews and continuously improves the onboarding process by utilizing the agency’s internal platform to ensure all candidate information is entered, updated, and accurately tracked in accordance with our onboarding standards and timelines.

Confirms that all departments are monitoring and updating the candidates' onboarding status.

Partners with Security and Operations on all recruitment strategies and staffing needs while coordinating and verifying the completion of all internal and external pre-employment screenings with applicable responsible parties to ensure a timely response of results and decrease our agency’s time to hire.

Coordinates and co-facilitates the New Employee Orientation.

Reviews pre-finalized employment files for accuracy and ensures they are processed within three (3) days of the Orientation.

Coordinates and participates in the Phase II Juvenile Correctional Officer interview process in collaboration with the Division of Security & Operations.

State Minimum Requirements

A bachelor's degree and relevant experience.

Additional Requirements

The candidate must have a working knowledge of human resources laws, regulations, policies, and procedures relevant to the area of employment.

Must be able to exercise judgment and discretion; establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Must be able to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, and procedures and communicate effectively.

A Human Resources certification from an accredited body is preferred.

Under limited supervision, the Juvenile Correctional Officer Recruitment Coordinator will require independent and collaborative thinking regarding the agency's recruitment process.

This position will support the recruitment efforts of juvenile correctional officers in order to achieve and maintain agency objectives.

Must be able to remain stationary for extended periods of time and have the mobile dexterity to lift up to 25 lbs.

This position performs job duties relating to the custody, control, transportation, or recapture of youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice, and the employee may have direct and indirect contact with youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice.

If the candidate selected for the position provided an unofficial copy, it must be replaced with an official copy on or before the HR processing date.

Preferred Qualifications

Agency Preferred Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in human resources management programs and two (2) years of experience.

A master's degree in human resources management may substitute for the required experience.

The ideal candidate will know human resources laws, regulations, policies, and procedures relevant to the area of employment.

An accredited Human Resources certification is preferred.
