We are currently interviewing School Social Workers in and around St. Claire Shores who have a genuine passion for working with children and adolescents, possess strong interpersonal skills, and exhibit empathy and sensitivity in addressing student needs.
In this collaborative environment, you'll:
Provide on-site support to elementary students (primarily 3rd-5th) facing academic, social, or emotional challenges
Work alongside teachers, administrators, and families to develop and implement impactful interventions
Support a self-contained classroom and run group lessons 2x week
Empower students through individual counseling, group sessions, and social-emotional learning initiatives
Become an integral part of the school community, building positive relationships and fostering a supportive environment

Responsibilities:
Provide individual and group counseling to students to address personal, social, and academic issues
Develop and implement intervention strategies to improve student behavior and academic performance
Conduct social-emotional assessments and develop appropriate treatment plans
Respond to and manage crisis situations involving students, including mental health emergencies and family crises
Provide support and resources to students and families in times of crisis
Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to develop and implement strategies to support student success
Consult with parents, guardians, and external agencies to coordinate services and resources for students
Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and provide input on social-emotional goals and supports
Develop and implement programs and initiatives to promote a positive school climate and address issues such as bullying, attendance, and mental health
Conduct workshops and training sessions for students, parents, and staff on topics related to social-emotional learning and well-being
Advocate for students' needs and rights within the school and the broader community
Connect students and families with community resources and services, including mental health providers, social services, and other support agencies
Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions, assessments, and interventions
Requirements:
Master's Degree in Social Work
Must possess S310 form- Approval to work in MI schools
Previous school social work experience is preferred
