Elementary Assistant Principal (2024-2025)

Reports to: Principal

General Definition of Work: To provide assistance to the school principal in the total school program and to ensure quality education to all students of the school.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises and evaluates the instructional staff within the major CORE subject areas
  • Coordinates staff development, curriculum coordination, master schedule development and the development of the Program of Studies
  • Assists teachers in implementing learning strategies through frequent classroom observations, teacher conferences, and evaluations
  • Assists in the selection of textbooks, equipment, and other instructional materials
  • Attends and participates in faculty meetings as well as other professional meetings called by the principal and/or administrative staff
  • Provides educational and instructional leadership which interprets, initiates and implements the goals and objectives of the school division
  • Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by laws, division policy and administrative regulations
  • Performs administrative duties which includes, but are not limited to, student services, discipline, state and division reporting and selection of personnel
  • Is available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the regular instructional day
  • Takes responsibility toward the maintenance of a safe, secure and clean building for all students, staff and citizens
  • Formulates plans to solicit active involvement of the local community and individuals in supporting the overall goals and objectives of the school division and the school
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others
  • Provides for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of study
  • Assumes leadership in the direction of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Attends such activities and assures a safe and secure environment during such events
  • Evaluates and counsels all staff members regarding their individual and group performance
  • Performs related duties assigned by the principal

Education And Job Experience

At least three years of successful full-time experience as a teacher, supervisor or administrator

Strong curriculum background with experience in supervision of instructional personnel and staff

Has demonstrated the leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers and parents

License/Endorsements: Postgraduate Professional Certificate and endorsement or eligible to obtain endorsement as a principal

Contract Period: 12 months

FLSA Status: Exempt
