The State of Wisconsin, Department of Military Affairs (DMA) is hiring an Electronics Technician position. This position is located at Volk Field Air Base, in Camp Douglas.

This position performs installation, maintenance, and repairs to the alarms, electrical, and electronic components and systems at the Volk Field Combat Readiness Training Center (CRTC), under general supervision of the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor. This position will assist in the installation and maintenance of all electrical systems including lightning protection and grounding systems. In addition, this position also provides fire detection, intrusion detection, electronic expertise and training for current employees, construction working groups, engineering staff, and purchasing staff.
The starting hourly rate is $26.60 per hour. This position is in the 06/64 pay schedule/range.
For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.
A 12-month probation will be required.
The Department of Military Affairs does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.

Special Requirements For The Position
Must possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license as a condition of continued employment.
In order to gain access to the military facilities and to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled, DMA will conduct a comprehensive background check. In addition, the position requires a Common Access Card (CAC). A CAC requires successful completion of a Department of Defense investigation and an additional more in-depth federal background check, for gaining access to federal computer systems, restricted locations, or classified information.
All new permanent, project, and limited term employees will be required to report to Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) in Madison on the Monday of their first week of employment for the New Employee Orientation (NEO) program. Additional information will be sent to the new employees and their supervisors on the Tuesday prior to NEO.
Candidates Who Meet Minimum Qualifications Will Have Experience With
Fire alarm service, maintenance, and design including software and hardware
Operating a personal computer and using Microsoft Office software, to include Outlook, Word, Excel and a variety of software applications. This includes the proficient use of a portable notebook computer using menu driven as well as custom programming features.
Electronic testing equipment in relationship to fire alarm systems service, maintenance, installation and equipment related to lighting protection/grounding system testing/certification
In addition to the minimum qualifications, well-qualified candidates will also have the following preferred qualifications/experience:
Using electrical, power and hand tools in relation to installing and maintaining fire alarm systems, keyless entry systems, lightning protection and ground systems inspections/maintenance
Reading and interpreting blueprints and specification material
Communicating specific fire alarm system requirements and specifications to engineering staff, and contractors
Analyzing information and making independent decisions
