EKG/Holter Responsibilities

Job Description

Under general medical supervision, and in accordance with standardized procedures, operates electrocardiograph equipment to record electrical wave tracing of electrical currents emanating from the heart muscle for use in the diagnosis of heart ailments; performs related work

> Appropriately greets patients

> Provides pre-procedure instructions

> Checks for electronic requisition.

> Complies with hospital infection control protocols

> Notes irregularities in recording process and reports malfunctioning of equipment to avoid serious damages

> Maintains point of service logs

Reports/Filing

> Prints copies of reports as may be need

> Reconciles EKG reports in Trace Master with Electronic Medical Records/EPIC orders

> Scans Holter into documentation system and generate reports.

Professional Requirements

> Participates in annual education requirements

> Participates in performance improvement activities.

> May be required to work alternating shifts, compressed scheduled including weekends.

> Reports to work on time as scheduled

> Completes work within designated time.

> Dress must be appropriate for business office

Language Skills

> Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate in English (oral and written). Bilingual communication skills are desired.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from a Senior High School or possession of a High School Equivalency Diploma and one year experience as an Electrocardiograph Technician in an approved hospital or in the office of a recognized Cardiologist; or,
  • A satisfactory equivalent.
