Electro-Mechanical Technician “EMT” At a Glance
The Electro-Mechanical Technician is responsible for all repair and maintenance electrical-mechanical-hydraulic equipment including but not limited to control panels (PLCs), lift systems, conveyor shaft-motor, bearing replacement and other moving mechanical parts. Additionally, this person is response for diagnosing mechanical problems and working directly with production associates and management to resolve production issues and ensure maximum production efficiencies.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Actively assist with planning/scheduling and storeroom staff for CMMS tracking: work orders- parts- purchase requisitions.
Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them- checking blueprints- repair manuals- or parts catalogs- as necessary.
Fabricate- disassemble and assemble production equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts.
Investigates electrical and instrument equipment failures and develops action plans to eliminate repetitive failures.
Performs preventative maintenance on all equipment and troubleshoot/repair processing- filling and packaging production equipment.
Weld- perform sheet metal work and employ basic shop floor skills (lathe- drill press- grinder- and other metalworking tools).
Qualifications & Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age
Experience in repair and maintenance of electrical- mechanical- and hydraulic equipment including technical knowledge in DCS/PLC control systems & applications, and/or high-voltage equipment.
Ability to work in a meat-processing/raw foods environment.
Ability to be flexible with working 2nd shift or 3rd shift hours
Ability to work onsite in a manufacturing plant environment with heavy machinery and equipment including lift up to 25lbs (bend/stoop/crawl/climb/balance/carry/push/pull) and be able to do so continuously throughout an 8-hour shift; frequent walking throughout the facility.
Ability to work in extreme cold temperatures/wet-humid environment working conditions.
