About the Role:

Puresky Energy is seeking a Manager, Electrical Engineering who is eager to contribute their expertise in leading electrical design and engineering efforts to support cost-effective energy system projects in the USA, with particular emphasis on solar and/or battery storage projects.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Electrical Engineering team members, providing technical and ethical guidance and support as needed. Encourage a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team, promoting the pursuit of new skills and knowledge to enhance project outcomes and team success
  • Collaborate with the other EPC and Development team members to establish a schedule of the Electrical engineering contributions to the overall project engineering lifecycle. Manages the provision of electrical engineering deliverables in accordance with the schedule.
  • Collaborate with the Interconnection team to ensure the timely provision of electrical engineering deliverables required for interconnection applications and electrical engineering analysis in the review of interconnection studies.
  • Collaborate with the Procurement team in the evaluation and selection of equipment and electrical engineering firms from the initial stages, including creating and managing the RFP process, identifying, and engaging with potential EORs, reviewing proposals, providing cost comparisons, and advising the VP and other EPC leaders in the selection of Engineers of Record (EORs).
  • Provide technical leadership for major equipment procurement, including Inverters, Transformers, Pad-mount switchgear, and other BOS. Collaborate with the Procurement team and other EPC leaders to ensure the procurement process meets project needs, schedules, and budgets. Participate in procurement meetings, review equipment specifications, lead technical Q/A, and select the optimal technology based on the project needs, schedules, cost, etc.
  • Support and collaborate with the Development Team and State Managers to identify their needs and coordinate and assign the task to the right team members to ensure the timely and effective delivery of project requirements.
  • Conduct technical reviews and provide guidance and feedback to team members on their work, ensuring compliance with project requirements, standards, and deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations related to electrical engineering projects, and ensure that all necessary permits and approvals are obtained.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, identifying potential risks and issues early and developing mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities for process improvement within the electrical engineering team, and implement new tools or procedures as needed to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manages the engagement of both in-house electrical engineers and 3rd party Electrical Engineering firms for the delivery/review of electrical engineering analysis (e.g. Power Systems analysis) and design (PSSE, PSCAD models, 1-line and 3-line diagrams).
  • Coordinates reviews of IFC and As-Built drawings with members of the electrical engineering team to provide appropriate and effective quality control.
  • Reviews electrical engineering drawings and documents of different project phases on system architecture, communication, and control grounds
  • Studies the rules and regulations of different Utilities technical requirements for integration of DER into the power grid considering the impacts on the normal grid operations and developing an optimal design solution.
  • Supports the decision-making process and risk mitigation plans related to technical issues at the system level
  • Supports senior management and various Pure Sky teams on a variety of other duties as needed.


Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional experience involved in clean energy system projects with emphasis on renewables and energy storage systems. Preference will be given to candidates who have working experience with a project developer.
  • Excellent knowledge of electrical design standards (CSA, IEEE, ANSI/IEC), and other industry standards and regulations
  • Familiarity with market-specific rules, regulations, standards, and codes such as the Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target (SMART) Program and the New York Value of Distributed Energy Resources (VDER)
  • Experience with solar PV plus dc-coupled battery storage solutions in a community solar application is preferred.
  • Ability to converse with engineers of various disciplines to discuss Solar PV and battery system electrical concepts, codes, layout calculations, and equipment sizing.
  • Extensive knowledge of the different phases of clean energy system projects including origination, contracting, design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, testing, operation, and monitoring
  • Extensive knowledge of the design and engineering procedures of renewable energy and energy storage systems
  • Advanced University/College degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered or eligible to be registered with a North American professional engineering association.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook required
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and other graphical skills
  • Familiarity with PSSE and/or PSCAD an asset
  • Critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills required.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Highly organized and skillful at working on multiple projects simultaneously with the ability to prioritize multiple and often competing activities.
  • Able to prioritize multiple, often competing priorities.
  • Self-motivated and committed to excellence, with a 'can do' positive attitude.
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to coach/influence others.


Pay range and compensation package: 105,000 - 120,000 CAD

Bonus Opportunity: 20% of annual salary
