Electrical Design Engineer

Purpose Of Position

The Engineer will support our low and medium voltage product engineering, automation and service efforts for repeatable orders.


Essential Functions

  • Create drawing packages for the manufacture of custom switchgear and switchboards to applicable industry standards.
  • Support production during the product construction and testing.
  • Work with mechanical designers to lay out and create rough front views/plan views of switchgear and switchboards.
  • Select components and create detailed bills of materials for our products.
  • May entail programming assignments for automation components, protective relays, digital meters, communication devices, etc.
  • Coordinate between multiple locations of manufacture to provide direction to build consistent equipment between facilities.
  • Coordinate with sales and project management teams for changes to repeatable designs.
  • Work with operations teams for adding modularity to production processes for increased efficiency as it relates to repeatable orders.
  • Some travel required to customer sites, IEM manufacturing plants, and customer meetings. Travel not to exceed 25%.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Autocad drafting software
