In This Role, You Will:
- Implement and enforce Safety programs to ensure compliance with all health and safety related laws, regulations, company policies, and procedures.
- Maintain a company culture of safety in the plant that’s consistent with company values, and lead daily environmental, health and safety programs onsite at the plant
- Provide training and ensure new and existing employees are fully educated, trained, and possess a clear understanding of all EHS programs.
- Develop and maintain all environmental and safety performance metrics, statistics, records, injury reporting, and record keeping systems in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Comply with all environmental, health and safety related best practices, policies, and procedures, including process safety management (PSM).
- Drive process improvement involving all facets of the business to ensure safety programs, processes, and procedures keep pace with the ever-changing needs of the business
- Investigate and document work-related accidents, incidents, and near misses, and ensure corrective and preventative measures are implemented in a timely manner to prevent recurrence
- Conduct inspections and audit safety programs to ensure compliance, mitigate risk, report and escalate any issues as needed to management
- Diligently adhere to and fulfill all Responsible Care® requirements, demonstrate a steadfast commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and ethical practices in all aspects of your position within the organization
- Perform other health and safety related duties as required
- Must have strong coaching and training skills to educate and motivate colleagues to perform work safely and follow safety best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with impeccable attention to detail
- Ability to adapt easily in response to new information, changing conditions, and unexpected obstacles
- Ability to make decisions using discretion and independent judgement with respect to safety-related matters of significance
- Must be able to meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks and prioritize at the same time is key
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Teams
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in environmental safety, occupational safety and health, or related field
- Five years of direct experience working in environmental, health, and safety, preferably in chemical processing or manufacturing work environment
- Experience evaluating and interpreting OSHA, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Texas law, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
- Knowledge of industry safety work rules, relevant OSHA requirements and regulations
