Job Responsibilities
Select and administer various formal and informal clinical instruments related to student evaluation.
Ability to select the appropriate educational evaluation instrument for students through the referral process. Interpret those results for the purpose of student placement.
Write reports and make recommendations to the ARD committee for educational placement.
Provide interpretive conferences with teachers, school administrators, and parents as required or requested.
Serve as a consultant to teachers in developing instructional strategies for the IEP.
Coordinate and participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to assist with interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement, and development of Individual Education Plans (IEP) for students according to district procedure
Conduct classroom observation when evaluating s
Collect and organize relevant assessment data from student’s cumulative folder, classroom teachers, principal, support staff, parents, and outside resource people
Plan staff prior to Admission, Review and Dismissal Committee meetings as appropriate.
Conduct Admission, Review and Dismissal Committee meetings in compliance with federal and state regulations and district policy
Ensure that all ARD documents are archived, copied and distributed to the appropriate ARD members
Input and maintain SHARS documentation bi-weekly.
Assist classroom teachers with the implementation of IEPs.
Consult with parents concerning the interpretation of assessment data and the educational needs of their student.
Collect, maintain and file all reports, records and other documents required, including case records, test results, statistical data and test inventories.
Adheres to and enforces board policy, school guidelines, and administrative directives.
Enforces guidelines to maintain proper discipline and conduct.
Assists in the development and administration of policies dealing with discipline, conduct, and attendance in regards to special education.
Works with and assists faculty in the development of effective classroom discipline and organization.
Assists the Principal with classroom observations, teacher feedback forms and other paperwork associated with supporting and correcting staff.
Maintains an effective and safe school environment.
Prepares required reports and paperwork such as discipline reports, suspension reports, expulsion paperwork, discrimination complaints, parent communications, RTI, Title I, Federal Funds and other paperwork as assigned.
Assists in the development, hosting and supervision of special events (e.g. parent nights, banquets, honor roll breakfast, ceremonies, programs, )
Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO, CAO, EDSP, and Principal.
Professionalism & Communication
Demonstrate professionalism by being in regular attendance and arriving on time to work, staff meetings, tutorials, parent nights and other assigned duties.
Complete required training on time.
Work cooperatively to create an atmosphere of unity among the school community and refrain and stop any gossip, negativity, and unsupportive comments.
Demonstrate professionalism at ALL times. I will exercise wisdom by remaining calm, respectful, and non-defensive during the following: meetings with parents and/or staff, disagreements, personal attacks, and other situations that may arise throughout the year.
Utilize professional communication with strong grammar, syntax, usage and/or spelling skills during phone conversations, personal conversations, emails, and social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. I will use professional communication on and off campus, refraining from attacking others, fighting, or engaging in controversial subjects on social media.
Exhibit professionalism in appearance and follow the BA standard of dress. I will apply this standard of dress to social media posts in regards to modesty in dress and action (ex: swimsuit, cleavage, & shirtless pictures, in addition to post with alcohol, cigarettes, and bars etc.).
Oversee communication to parents about scholar achievement levels, class behavior, assigned homework, academic needs, and any concerns.
Share information regarding school calendar, planned school activities, field trips, money collection, and other events within the classroom and school that are imperative and time sensitive to the parents of the classroom.
Check staff email a minimum of three times daily during normal working hours and check teacher in-box daily and commit to read updates, notes, and employee notices in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Master’s degree
SBEC certification for educational diagnostician
Three years experience as a classroom teacher
Knowledge of special education and the ARD process
Strong computer skills
Ability to determine appropriate testing instruments
Knowledge of human development, second language acquisition and learning
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Experience
Fluent in Spanish and English
