Education Research Assistant -- Remote | WFH

Overview

We are dedicated to enriching educational policy and practice decisions through rigorous and equitable research and evaluation. IWe are seeking passionate individuals to join us as temporary, part-time research assistants. As a member of our team, you will have the rewarding opportunity to conduct assessments and observations with preschool and kindergarten children, ultimately contributing to the betterment of practitioners, students, and families.

This position offers invaluable experience in child assessment skills and exposure to standardized assessment measures. Candidates should possess a background in research and/or working with children in preschool and elementary school settings. Assessments will be conducted in schools during the Fall of 2024 and Spring of 2025. Comprehensive training and certification on assessment instruments will be provided in July and August 2024, with up to six training sessions conducted via real-time Zoom calls or in-person.

Successful candidates will receive compensation for their training and time spent conducting assessments and other research activities. This is a temporary position for the 2024-2025 school year, located in Sonoma County, CA, with work conducted directly in classrooms on a one-on-one basis with students.

Responsibilities

Attend up to six training days in July-August to prepare for data collection responsibilities.

Conduct direct child assessments and observations during fall and spring data collection periods (August-November in the fall, and March-May in the spring).

Coordinate with the project manager and teachers to schedule data collection activities.

Enter data into a web-based database.

Must be willing and able to travel to school sites and conduct assessments one-on-one with students outside the classroom.

Position Requirements

Some undergraduate coursework in psychology, education, social work, or early childhood.

Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.

Experience working with children, such as teaching or assisting in elementary schools, conducting child assessments, or participating in afterschool programs.

Access to a car or reliable transportation for traveling to participating schools.

Access to a computer/digital device and reliable internet.

Willingness to complete all security measures and training required by the study.

Availability in the morning and early afternoon (8 am-2 pm) at least three days a week, Monday through Friday.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in research.

Proficiency or fluency in Spanish.

Estimated Hours: Approximately 18-24 hours per week during the fall and spring data collection periods.

Compensation: $25 per hour.
