Education Department Relations Manager -- Remote | WFH

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Regional Manager of Education Department Relations to serve as the primary liaison with key state Department of Education stakeholders. This role involves nurturing productive relationships with individuals who have direct authority or indirect influence over education policy, programs, and resource allocations. You will be responsible for designing and executing strategic plans to enhance our visibility within target states. Anticipating and identifying educational challenges and opportunities is critical in this role. We are looking for a positive, highly motivated, and creative thinker who can offer practical solutions to support our rapidly evolving organization.

Job Responsibilities

Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with Sales and internal divisions to develop strategic plans and state-specific solutions.

Relationship Building: Leverage existing networks and cultivate new relationships with key state Department of Education officials to secure meetings and presentations.

Primary Conduit: Act as the main point of contact between Sales and state Departments of Education.

Conference Strategy: Play an integral role in our conference strategy, including planning and participation.

Consultation: Advise state department leaders on state literacy initiatives.

Contract Pursuit: Assist in the successful pursuit of state-level contracts.

Policy Improvement: Collaborate with Sales to identify state Department of Education policies that impact sales negatively and develop strategies to address them.

Best Practices Sharing: Share best practices on literacy and language policy.

Representation: Represent our organization at conferences and partner events.

Messaging and Positioning: Help develop effective messaging and positioning.

Government Relations: Support government relations activities by working with state DOE officials on policy implementations.

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree required; Advanced Degree in Education or Policy preferred.

Expertise: Knowledge and expertise in education policy and state government operations.

Experience: Minimum of 4+ years of experience in a senior leadership role within a state Department of Education is highly preferred.

Initiative Leadership: Experience leading or managing initiatives connected to state policy, funding, and guidance is preferred.

Networks: Established networks with state Department of Education officials are preferred.

Cross-Functional Role: Proven ability to work and thrive in a cross-functional role, with success in aligning goals and objectives and balancing competing interests and priorities.

Insight Interpretation: Proven track record of interpreting relevant insights from various resources to identify trends.

Skills: Exceptional organization, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Adaptability: Confidence and ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment.

Communication: Strong customer focus, attitude, verbal, and written communication skills.
