Position Summary:

The Professional Learning Division plays a vital role in our company, serving as the linchpin between our organization and our esteemed clientele. TCM is seeking Education Consultant candidates, dedicated to delivering professional development services specifically designed to enhance educational experiences for California’s multilingual learners, teachers of multilingual learners, and their families. The role necessitates a profound understanding of multilingual education, a keen grasp of adult learning theory, and a steadfast commitment to remaining abreast of cutting-edge research, pedagogy, and policies in multilingual education. Through these competencies, the Education Consultant ensures the delivery of unparalleled professional development services, aligning with our mission to furnish best-in-class educational resources to our diverse clientele.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide Leadership in English Language Development (ELD) Professional Learning: Lead the development of comprehensive ELD professional learning services for both internal and external stakeholders, encompassing TCM's curriculum resources as well as those from Shell Education and Free Spirit Publishing. Offer expert guidance and coaching to educators in Integrated and Designated ELD, newcomer support, and best practices for multilingual learner instruction.
  • Collaborate and Communicate with Stakeholders: Forge collaborative relationships with diverse educational stakeholders at the school, district, and state levels. Facilitate discussions on professional learning, coaching methodologies, caregiver support initiatives, reclassification strategies, and RFEP monitoring to ensure holistic support for multilingual learners.
  • Support Goal Setting and Curriculum Planning: Provide invaluable assistance to site and district leadership teams in setting strategic goals for instructional enhancement. Contribute expertise in curriculum planning and coordination, including the review and implementation of standards-aligned instructional materials tailored to TCM’s language acquisition curriculum resources and professional resources.
  • Conference Proposal Writing and Presentations: Craft compelling conference proposals and serve as a distinguished representative of our organization at national and regional conferences. Offer valuable insights and expertise on multilingual learner support in response to conference requests, further establishing our company as a leader in the field.
  • Monthly Market Trend Reports: Generate insightful monthly reports that analyze and synthesize current market trends and pertinent topics. Ensure the company remains agile and adaptable by staying informed of industry developments and leveraging market insights to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Custom Professional Development & Implementation Plans: Develop customized professional development plans and implementation strategies precisely tailored to the unique needs of our clients in supporting multilingual learners. Employ a collaborative approach to ensure alignment with client objectives and desired outcomes.

Product Knowledge Acquisition: Deepen understanding of products published by TCM and its imprints, acquiring comprehensive knowledge of their features and benefits. Disseminate this expertise to our sales team and customers as needed, facilitating informed decision-making and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Based in California
  • Education/Certification: Master’s degree in education, with a specialization or certification in multilingual education
  • Required Knowledge:
  • Expertise in multilingual education pedagogy, theory, and practice.
  • Familiarity with California-specific standards and frameworks for multilingual education, including those established by organizations such as TESOL, WIDA, NABE, and others.
  • Educational leadership or administration experience
  • Experience Required: 5-7 years of progressive experience in the field of education within the state of California, with a focus on multilingual education and roles of increasing responsibility, including district-level experience.
  • Skills/Abilities:
  • Proficiency in designing and delivering effective professional development tailored for multilingual learners.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Exemplary organizational skills, with acute attention to detail.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on clear and accessible communication in multilingual contexts.
  • Bilingual, preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Walk, sit, and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Carry company products to and from meetings and training sessions.
  • Carry up to 50 lbs.

Work Conditions:

Home office environment.

Travel (by car and airplane) 50-70% of the time.
