Job Summary:

 

The Editorial Manager is responsible for planning and managing projects throughout their development and reporting to the Director on the status and productivity of assigned projects. This role collaborates with KGL design and production teams, as well as client teams, as applicable.


Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Develops capacity and quality of external resources.
  • Builds and manages external editorial teams for assigned projects.

·        Helps build and maintain internal schedules or monitors and updates publisher’s schedules. Alerts Exec Director if schedules are at risk and provides solutions to keep work on schedule.

·        Manages workflow and processes related to content creation to ensure that clients’ publishing goals are met.

·        Establishes QC processes to ensure completed work meets client expectations.

·        Maintains content prototypes and templates that meet client specifications.

·        Maintains editorial guidelines to ensure product consistency and ensures that revisions to standards and guidelines are implemented.

·        Ensures content compliance to standards as well as content accuracy.

·        Leads or participates in status meetings with clients, including progress reporting for scope of work and schedule.

·        Track counts and assist in reconciliation of contracts.

·        Manages multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications:


·        Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years’ experience supervising projects and people in a deadline-driven environment, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. 

·        5+ years’ experience managing multiple content development projects (and / or multiple components for a large program) simultaneously.

·        Expertise with state-specific and broader-market educational standards, including Common Core, state standards, and other relevant frameworks and standards in the assigned discipline areas.

  • Thorough understanding of pedagogy and learning/instruction dynamics.

 

  • Ability to interact with client contacts in a professional manner.
  • Ability to speak and work with KGL colleagues in a professional manner.
  • Ability to develop or interpret workflow and specification instructions effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to plan, direct, and facilitate new product development, including content prototype development, writers’, and editors’ guidelines.
  • Strong communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and work in an energetic, deadline-driven, and highly creative environment.


Desired Skills and Abilities:

 

·        Candidates offering an advanced degree a major plus.

  • Experience in custom or market-specific product development.


Physical Requirements:

 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.


Travel Requirements:

 

·        Work is 100% remote.
