The Scout Guide is a city guide dedicated to supporting locally owned businesses. It is part of a nationwide network of more than 90 locations owned and operated by local editors/owners. TSG Beaufort & Bluffton connects readers with independently owned businesses in print, online, and in person. The guide celebrates local businesses and business owners and encourages people to enjoy all that their city has to offer.
Role Description
This is a full-time remote role for an Editor/Owner at The Scout Guide Hilton Head & Bluffton. The Editor/Owner will be responsible for sales, curating and editing content, managing the publication process, and building relationships with local businesses and business owners. The Editor/Owner will also be responsible for maintaining the city website, online directory, and social media channels to keep readers and followers up to date and engaged.
Qualifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and editing skills
Sales experience with proven results
Experience in content curation and publication management
Knowledge of local businesses and the Hilton Head community
Proficiency in social media management, digital marketing and contracts
Ability to work independently and remotely
Strong organizational and time management skills
Basic graphic design skills
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field
Photo shoot experience and/or scheduling & creating visual content with photographers and related content professionals
Resident and in-depth knowledge of Hilton Head and Bluffton, SC
