Job Summary: Responsible for planning, managing, and producing all editorial content for Ratchet+Wrench print magazine, website, e-newsletters, podcast, social channels, as well as supervising the work of freelance contributors and writers, and supporting event content productions. Plan and produce content and work with a team of freelance writers and contributors to produce and manage content (print, digital, podcast, etc.) that sustains the brand's identity in connecting owners and operators of independent repair facilities (audience) with industry news, business building strategies, trends, education, and solution providers (sponsors). Fulfill the brand's mission to offer compelling and inspiring content that will ensure continued interest in and support from the audience of buyers and sellers.


Essential Job Function:

  • Direct the strategic development of all editorial products (including the creation of an editorial calendar) for the brand including print magazine, website, e-newsletters, podcasts, and social channels.
  • Manage the activities and assignments of writers/contributors, providing guidance on content direction, editing, and deadlines.
  • Act as the brand’s representative at industry events, including presentations, panel moderator, event host, client interactions, etc.
  • Effectively collaborate with shared services teams to develop content and align projects with brand.
  • Oversee print publications — Assist in gathering content from contributors, create original content, enter text into design platform, work with production on folio creation, work with designer on page creation, and edit designed pages.
  • Oversee and develop editorial topics/direction — Work with Publisher and Group Editorial Director to create annual editorial calendars that garner readership and advertiser support. Adjust coverage and direction as needed based on real-time industry trends. Coordinate special projects and create plans to meet deadlines.
  • Research and write feature stories, editor's letter, compile other content for print and digital offerings, including social channels.
  • Oversee websites, email properties, multimedia, and social media channels — Create content for our websites, building and deploying email newsletters, manage podcasts and video content, and share content on social media.
  • Interface with shared services and collaborate with other departments — Be the conduit between the Vehicle Repair Group editors and departments that support the functions of their roles (e.g. Marketing Solutions, Web Development, Production, etc.).
  • Support event operations and content planning — Attract engaging speakers and stakeholders. Assist in promotion of events through editorial and marketing channels. Collaborate on logistics to carry out live events.
  • Attend trade shows and industry-related press events to professionally represent Endeavor Business Media and the publications on behalf of the editorial team. Additional responsibilities include reporting on the event with social media posts and conducting interviews for news coverage.

Qualifications:

  • Can identify unique needs of the audience (both readers and sponsors).
  • Deadline-focused.
  • Can function as an independent contributor in a team structure.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications or related industry field.
  • Experience with digital and print content development, as well as production.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and HTML/CSS.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a business/trade editor or equivalent.


Special Job Dimensions: Some travel required.


Supervisory Responsibility: Supervises freelance writers/contributors, which includes scheduling and assigning work activities, monitoring and reviewing work performed, and making regular related reports to the Group Editorial Director, Publisher, and Sales Team.


We are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $45,000 - $57,000 - $67,500, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. Some positions may include additional compensation in the form of bonus, or commissions. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. This information is provided per the relevant state and local pay transparency laws for the location in which this position will be performed.


If you are hired at Endeavor, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as hiring location, skillset, prior years’ experience, relevant education, certain degrees and certifications, training, and market considerations. In addition to those factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider any internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future & continued salary growth.
