Value Add is the leading business publication for the operating side of private equity. We tell the stories about what happens after a private equity buyout -- management changes, restructurings, corporate turnarounds, digital transformations, etc.

We launched our newsletter in 2023, which has quickly grown to thousands of subscribers from some of the world's top PE firms. Today, we also publish articles, reports, case studies, and executive interviews.

We're looking for our first editor who will write and edit 2-3 articles per week. As our most-senior employee, you will set the pace and tone for Value Add and help us own media coverage on PE-backed companies. The ideal candidate is an experienced business reporter who has covered aspects of private equity or M&A news, and has interviewed senior executives on- and off-the-record.

This is a fully remote, part-time role to start of 20 hours per week. Great for someone who is freelancing for multiple publications.

Responsibilities

• Keep a pulse on private equity trends with a particular focus on buyouts, exits, and value creation.
• Write trend pieces about buyouts and exits, such as the types of industries PE firms are increasing or decreasing their exposure.
• Conduct original reporting on the activities happening in PE-backed companies after a buyout (e.g. management changes, restructuring, transformation, M&A, etc.).
• Interview executives in PE firms as well as portfolio companies both on- and off-the-record.
• Help edit our weekly newsletter as well as other pieces of content written by our team of analysts.
• Work with our publisher on audience development and editorial strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Experience interpreting financial statements and conducting research on companies.
• Talented writer who can craft engaging stories out of esoteric financial data.
• Persistent reporter who is eager to dive into the world of corporate turnarounds.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
